Intent to Adopt
The Newport School District Board of School Directors adopted the Proposed Final Budget for fiscal year 2017-2018 on May 9, 2017. The Budget is on display on the district’s website (under the District tab), and a copy of the Budget is available at the district’s administration office, 420 Fickes Lane, Newport, PA, Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Board of School Directors intends to adopt the budget on June 13, 2017.
Sports Physicals: If you are a current Middle school student (grade 6-8) or a high school student and you intend to play a fall sport, the school will offer sports physicals on Wed. June 7th if you are interested. Please see Mr. Lesh ASAP for the appropriate paperwork. The cost of the exam will be $20.00 payable to Dr. Albert Knouse, M.D. This physical exam will cover any future sports that you intend to participate in during the 2017-2018 school year. Mr. Lesh will schedule your exam time so please make note of the time you are to be at the school. Physical exams will be in the Nurse’s office starting at 8:15 a.m.

The Newport School District places a high level of emphasis on communication. This emphasis lends itself to an environment where students will receive the best possible educational experience. The District encourages continual communication between parents and staff to support every student. In order to effectively address and facilitate discussion regarding questions or concerns about your child’s education, the District would like issues to be routed through certain channels for communication. In the event that a question or concern should arise, please first contact your student’s teacher. From that point, the respective building administrator may become involved to help facilitate discussion on an issue. If the issue is unresolved at either of these levels, it will be elevated to the Superintendent for review. Should the need arise, the issue may be presented before the School Board for additional consideration.
